The Third Preparatory Investigation Court of Tarapoto issued nine months of preventive detention against Pío Huamán Valqui (50) and Jazmín Torres Muñoz (18), involved in the murder investigation with ferocity and treachery against a 1-year-old and 8-month-old baby of age in the El Porvenir Pelejo district, in the San Martín region.
According to the thesis of the Public Ministry, the defendants had a sentimental relationship and, presumably, they would have ended the life of the minor on April 14.
“Huamán Valqui (baby’s uncle) would have been instigated by Torres Muñoz to kill her son, so that they can continue with the love relationship, behind the defendant’s partner’s back. In this way, Pío Huamán would have thrown the minor into a ditch in the Selva Alegre farmhouse, in the El Porvenir district, San Martín province,” specified the Prosecutor’s Office.
However, hours later, the minor’s mother, in an attempt to evade justice, reported the disappearance of her son. Given the request presented by the Prosecutor’s Office, Judge Ángel Julio Gonzales Yovera decreed the restrictive measure for both, considering that there are sufficient elements of conviction, a possible sentence of more than four years in prison and the danger of escape or obstruction of justice.
The case
According to police information, the minor disappeared last Thursday in the Selva Negra farmhouse. The next day, Jazmín Torres reported the case to the sector’s police station.
The National Police indicated that the minor was found dead in the ditch of a farm in the district of El Porvenir Pelejo, in Tarapoto. The body was without clothing from the waist down. After this, the agents arrested the people involved.
