Students present Roberto Fulcar with their vision of challenges and solutions in education

The Minister of Education, Roberto Fulcar, and 54 students from the 18 Regional Directorates of the Ministry of Education of the Dominican Republic (MINERD) discussed the needs of schoolchildren in the school context.

Roberto Fulcar participated together with deputy ministers, general directors and officials of the MINERD in the National Student Congress “For an Education to Live Better”, which brings together 54 students from the 18 Regional Directorates of the Ministry, with whom he discussed issues of the educational system that affect them and the possible solutions.

In this regard, Fulcar said that the purpose of the conversation is to seek, involve, consult, share and listen so that the “Education for a better life” model transcends management and especially in generations.

He argued that learning is an attempt to improve everyone’s life, the student is the passion to know more, the appetite to learn, asking why, questioning their way of life and their teachers, and this is the role of students today and what teachers should acquire.

“The attitude and desire to learn teaches us that we never stop assuming new knowledge, the capable teacher dares to develop their abilities, always in search of new knowledge, to respond to each moment and each situation, and this is the educational model, Education to live better”, he expressed.

The minister argued that “adolescents are not released with material details, but with knowledge and learning to obtain cognitive and practical skills, which can make them free from the environment and ignorance.”

At the beginning of the congress, held this Tuesday at the Salomé Ureña Higher Teacher Training Institute (ISFODOSU), the director of Orientation and Psychology of the MINERD, Francisca De La Cruz, expressed that students are the primary reason for education and teachers, Within the framework of the educational model “Education for a better life”, they are present to assume the responsibility that they must have as a team to give a sense of belonging and offer each one the scope to solve their problems.

In this sense, from the Directorate of Orientation and Psychology of the educational centers, deserving students of each region were chosen to participate in the Congress.

To end the National Student Congress, the Minister of Education delivered certificates of participation by the regions and in this way prioritize and value the efforts of each of the young people to contribute to the educational model imposed by this administration.

Present at the activity, among others, were the Deputy Minister of Planning and Development, Julissa Hernández; the director of Orientation and Psychology, Francisca de La Cruz, and the director of Recruitment of the National Hispanic Institute Alianza RD, Kedwin Martínez.
