Students demonstrate in the Alameda for cases of sexual abuse and harassment: they are on their way to the Mineduc

Hundreds of school students have gathered in Plaza Baquedano to demonstrate in the capital in the context of complaints of sexual harassment and abuse in schools in Providencia, Santiago and Ñuñoa.

These complaints were made known when a group of male adolescents from the Lastarria High School began to spread intimate photographs of underage girls in a WhatsApp group that they intended to imitate -and was called- “La Manada”, a case that came to light public after the students of said school protested inside the facilities, which was echoed in other schools, for which a massive march was called.

The young people set the meeting point in the so-called “Plaza Dignidad” with the intention of reaching the Ministry of Education located in the Alameda a few meters from the Palacio de La Moneda. While another group would meet at another point in Los Héroes.

For the Mineduc, the schoolchildren intend to submit a petition that talks about the measures they request to address this type of situation in the establishments.
