The senator for the National Party, Graciela Bianchi, once again launched inflammatory statements criticizing the Judicial Power and the University of the Republic, and the criticism jumped for their questioning of the institutionality.

“Now I am beginning to try to make us think that the Judicial Power is also infiltrated by those who… The University was an indoctrination plant, that’s the way it is. Look, prosecutors and judges — I practiced law for almost 30 years — have a perception of who is in charge, eh? So, it is up to us to continue insisting, “said the ultra-conservative legislator in statements made at a virtual meeting of the multi-colored coalition with pro-government legislators.

Also at the meeting were Guido Manini Ríos and Raúl Lozano, legislators from the far-right Cabildo Abierto party.

The three understand that there should be more prisoners than the three governments of the Broad Front have made up, but they assured that “a lot has been done.” Bianchi stated that “we must not underestimate” the Broad Front, a force that he was part of even before joining the National Party. This left-wing coalition “managed the State for 15 years” and knew how to “take advantage” of that opportunity. He denounced the existence of “rigged contests” that allowed him to “locate in a budgeted manner” militants who today are “difficult to remove middle managers,” according to the weekly.

“And the middle managers today continue to run the State,” Bianchi said. “One of the things I want to put the accelerator on is the middle managers, because the middle managers, in general, are not ours.”

Reactions and criticism

Bianchi’s words did not go down well with the FA and the Judiciary. The Frente Amplio senator, Charles Carrera, expressed: “Senator Bianchi, does apology for the pressure to Justice by the government of the day and underestimates the judicial system of our country ”.

“Perhaps, Senator Bianchi forgets that one of the fundamental bases of our Republic is the separation of Powers and any exertion of pressure on Justice by the government of the day, demonstrates the few democratic convictions of those who exercise such actions. The repeated outbursts, nonsense and undemocratic statements show that Senator Bianchi is not worthy of the position she occupies, ”Carrera added on her official Twitter account.

For his part, the president of the FA, Fernando Pereira, said that “Senator Bianchi has assumed a tone that does not correspond to our idiosyncrasy. In Uruguay there are few of us and we know each other, and to denounce without grounds the infiltration of the Judicial Power by the left is, in addition to nonsense, an attempt to interfere by a senator, the first senator of the ruling party, in the autonomy of one of the state powers”.

“You have to be careful in the statements that are made on such sensitive issues, and if they are, they must be accompanied by evidence and accurate complaints. A systematic bombardment of the credibility of the institutions requires a firm and forceful call for prudence, and the National Party also has to contribute to this, ”added Pereira in a statement sent to LARED21.

“At the same time, to propose that the University of the Republic, the main institution of higher education in our country, from which men and women have emerged from all party ranks, from all areas of science, is a ‘center of Indoctrination ‘constitutes another nonsense, another embarrassing outburst. We cannot get used to politics being stained with outlandish speeches and statements, baseless and hurting our coexistence. In Uruguay there is no crack, no matter how much effort Senator Bianchi makes ”, he concluded.
