The Ministry of Health reformed various articles of the regulations on advertising for food and non-alcoholic beverages, with which said products may show stamps or legends of recommendation or recognition by organizations or professional associations only in case of not presenting any labeling due to excess calories . In addition, it extended said regulation to advertisements that are broadcast on the Internet and digital platforms.
With a decree issued in the Official Journal of the Federationthe agency reformed part of the regulations for Sanitary Control of Products and Services and the General Health Law in Advertising Matters to regulate the messages of these products on open and restricted television, movie theaters, the Internet and other digital platforms.
Articles may include recommendations from professional associations when do not have an excessive content of energy or critical nutrients according to the corresponding standard
and they must specify the specific population and health condition to which they are directed.
Products bearing one or more front labels must not include, but are not limited to, children’s characters, cartoons, celebrities, mascots, or interactive elements such as visual-spatial games or digital downloads for children, that incite, promote, or encourage consumption.
