Spanish Football Federation ratifies sanction against Brazilian Dani Álves

The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) today ratified the two-match ban on Barcelona’s Brazilian defender Dani Álves, following the appeal filed by the Catalan club that asked for it to be reduced.

The governing body of football in Spain supported the measure to the player, who committed a strong foul from behind the Belgian striker Yannick Carrasco, in the match between Barcelona and Atlético de Madrid for date 23 of La Liga.

Barcelona filed an appeal requesting the reduction to one game, alleging that the player did have options to play the ball, but the RFEF maintained its position and decided to maintain the sanction in two games.

In this way, the former Brazilian international will miss the matches against Espanyol and Valencia, for matchdays 24 and 25 of the League.
