SP: after concreting the crater, the marginal lane will be released today

After an accident at the construction site of Line 6-Orange of the subway, the central lane of Marginal Tietê, in the capital of São Paulo, can be released this Thursday (3), at 5 pm. The information was confirmed by the Basic Sanitation Company of the State of São Paulo (Sabesp), by the State Secretariat of Metropolitan Transport and by the city hall. There is still no forecast of when the local track will be released.

“An analysis was carried out at the site, which showed that the work of concreting the opening caused by the accident next to the ventilation shaft of Line-6 Orange of the subway and by the rupture of the sewage pipe next to the works was successful. With this, it will not be necessary to install piles to contain the local runway of Marginal Tietê”, inform, in a joint note, Sabesp and the secretariat.SP: after concreting the crater, the marginal lane will be released today

THE accident at the construction site was on Tuesday morning (1st) and opened a crater on Marginal Tietê, towards Rodovia Ayrton Senna, near the bridge of Freguesia do Ó. The causes are still being investigated, but there is a possibility that the accident was caused by a leak in a pipeline – a channel for conducting water or sewage. There were no injuries, but some workers needed to be treated because they had contact with contaminated water. The accident led to isolation of the perimeter and total interdiction of the local and central lanes of the Marginal.

To contain the crater, the Acciona dealership made a concreting work, filling the crater with rocky material and mortar. The service was finished last night (2). According to Sabesp and the secretariat, the opening was filled with 4 thousand cubic meters (m³) of concrete, the equivalent of 650 concrete mixer trucks. In addition, 12,000 m³ of stones were poured into the VSE Aquinos well, where the ventilation well of the future Line 6-Orange is located. This volume corresponds to 1,200 dump trucks.

Yesterday, in a press conference, the secretary of Metropolitan Transport, Paulo Galli, had informed that, if there was no need to place stakes to help contain the crater, the Marginal runway could be released in the period of two or three days.

Today (3), Mayor Ricardo Nunes confirmed that there will be no need to place stakes for containment, which would increase the deadline for releasing the track. “Concreting handled the earth moving issue well. The sensors that the company Acciona keeps there on the runway have not identified any changes. So we have this important information [sobre a liberação da pista]”, said the mayor.

Nunes highlighted the pressures suffered because of the increase in traffic in the region. There are five lines that pass through the site and transport about 40,000 passengers a day,” said the mayor. Sidings will be installed on the local lane of Marginal Tietê to preserve the site, allow the cleaning of the space and prevent drivers’ curiosity about the work of the teams from causing traffic delays.
