Soledad Sierra on cases of femicide: ‘In the macho culture men are taught to have power and control’

The psychologist Soledad Sierra, addressed this Wednesday the issue of femicides in the country, which have been increasing, emphasizing that violence is learned from our childhood.

He said that parents must understand that they are the guide and not the mandate, and that they must have power and control, “since we are little they tell us: ‘I am the one in charge, you have to obey me,’ instead of using a guiding language; we don’t raise children that way. It’s all about power and control, about wanting to have power and control.”

The specialist added that in the philosophy of life or macho culture, the man is taught that he has to have power and control, because he is the one who has to provide, he is the one who has to ensure that everything is under control and that is added to couples.

“That culture that is taught makes the person badly manage everything that happens to him because when he has a sentimental relationship with a partner he wants to have power and control over it, and when he feels that he cannot control the situation, he has to persecute it until the achieve it, and when he achieves it, he has control over it,” explained Sierra.
