The Minister of Health, Magaly Gutiérrez Viña, reported through her Twitter account that the fire that occurred this Monday morning at the Venezuelan Institute of Social Security (IVSS) located in Carapita, Caracas, affected the supplies for hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis programs.
In this regard, the minister noted that President Nicolás Maduro “has ordered the immediate replacement of damaged supplies, to ensure continuity of care for kidney patients.”
The head of the Health portfolio pointed out that so far “the fire is being controlled and has not caused injuries or deaths on the part of our workers, workers, or people from the surrounding communities.”
Gutiérrez Viña called on the population to remain calm and “not echo the rumors and be attentive to the information generated by official agencies.”
Earlier, the Minister of the Interior, Justice and Peace, Remigio Ceballos, said that it was not ruled out that the fire was the product of a sabotage action. He stated that he initiated the investigation phase under the guidance of the Cicpc claims team.
