Roosevelt Skerrit, Prime Minister of Dominica, thanked from Havana the leaders of the Bolivarian Revolution, Hugo Chávez and of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, for their effort and strength in devising and building the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America ( Alba-TCP), which 18 years after its foundation, stands on the continent as a consolidated regional force.
“They created a structure of solidarity, using the resources that we possess (in the same countries whose states are part of the alliance), for the good and well-being of humanity,” said Skerrit during his speech at the extraordinary session of the National Assembly of People’s Power of Cuba through which they celebrate the 12th Alba-TCP summit and the 18th anniversary of its creation.
He also pointed out how the vision of Commander Hugo Chávez is a pillar for the island he presides over, where he was recently re-elected for a fifth term as head of government. “I want to thank the Venezuelan people for having given the world that man who was Hugo Chávez,” he said.
“Hugo Chávez is also the person who is in our vision (as the Dominican government),” said Skerrit and highlighted his admiration for how, despite the adversities, “the Venezuelan Revolution has remained firm,” and assured his solidarity with the people. and the Government of Venezuela, in the face of constant aggression from the United States.
“I maintain our solidarity with you (President Nicolás Maduro) and the Venezuelan people,” he pointed out, and extended it to the people and the government of Cuba, referring to their resilience in the face of the economic, financial and commercial blockade that the island has suffered for more than 60 years. years with a balance of millionaire losses and suffering for Cubans.
“We will maintain this trend, despite the decisions of the Northern State, and we will continue to raise our voices to end the blockade imposed on the Cuban people,” said Skerrit and urged the unity of the continent, to face it. to those who “want to see (in Alba-TCP) a fragmented group.”
