Six months after number portability, the cost of internet fell 75%

Six months after the implementation of number portability, in June there was a 14% drop in the average price of contracts offered by the three mobile phone operators (Antel, Claro and Movistar) and 75% in the case of data consumption (internet).

The Communications Services Regulatory Unit (Ursec) reported this Tuesday that ehe average monthly contract price in June was $925 compared to $1,079.67 last December, with a decrease of 14.3%.A decrease was also noted in June compared to March when the value of the contract was $971.33.

For the analysis, Ursec considered the mobile phone plans offered by the three companies with prices and features in gigabytes that are comparable to each other and with plans that have a monthly value of around $845 and $990. To arrive at the Conclusions The plans in force in December of last year (prior to the implementation of number portability that took place on January 12 of this year) were compared with the prices and benefits in force in July of the three companies.

Another decline mentioned in the report was in average price paid per gigabyte (GB). In June, the value of the GB was $13.50, compared to $54.50 in December, with a marked drop of 74.6%.

Ursec also highlighted a 198.7% performance increase in GBin the comparison between December 2021 and June of this year.
