The authorities of the National Administration of Public Education (ANEP) visited the city of Salto this Friday 9 to talk with the community about the educational transformation promoted by the Government. Regarding the planned actions, the president of Codicen, Robert Silva, expressed that: “We want to put our foot on the accelerator from 2023.”
In the Face to Face meeting with the Community, at the Salto Hotel, Silva was accompanied by the counselor of the ANEP, Juan Gabito, and the general director of Initial and Primary Education, Graciela Fabeyro.
The president of ANEP expressed that some 30 meetings will be held throughout the country with people interested in learning about the educational transformation announced by the Government in August 2020, when it presented the Educational Development Plan 2020-2024 in Parliament.
He added that these instances are developed to listen to the concerns, proposals and disagreements that exist, but also to become collectively aware of the importance of carrying out a process of change in the face of the worrying results that are verified. He stressed that the joint work with teachers, students and society in general will allow us to address the challenges starting next year.
Strengthening
Among the concerns on the subject, he recalled that 42% of 19-year-olds dropped out of the education system and that 82% of the most disadvantaged quintiles in the third year of high school or UTU are in the two lower levels of learning in Mathematics. . In this sense, he maintained that this situation shows the need to work for transformations.
“Public education is the fundamental tool and instrument for the productive development of the country and to give opportunities to those who have less,” he considered.
Silva expressed that the transformation implies the strengthening of educational centers through the professionalization of management teams and inspectors. In addition, the stability of the teaching teams will be sought, by choosing hours for more than a year both in Secondary and in UTU.
Regarding the function, he said that the university character will be sought for the degree title of teachers and professors from 2023.
“This country cannot keep waiting, and together we all have to carry out these actions, because it is transcendental”, he concluded in his oratory.
