The Chamber of Senators approved on Tuesday the bill on Abusive Drug Consumption, an initiative presented by the legislator of the Colorado Party for the department of Colonia, Ms. Nibia Reisch, in 2017.
The project establishes that any person of legal age with drug addiction problems, at a time when they are mentally fit, can sign their advance directive so that the family can proceed with their detoxification when they are under problematic consumption.
The initiative had the support of the coalition parties and was rejected by the Broad Front.
Different organizations of relatives of addicts attended the National Parliament to support the initiative.
