Sánchez highlighted the role of the Presidency in the articulation of comprehensive policies that address this issue in a transversal manner.
«Security is the main concern of Uruguayans, and our approach will be comprehensive and articulated. The Presidency will play a key role in coordinating policies with different ministries to guarantee an efficient response,” Sánchez assured.
Sánchez highlighted that, although the Ministry of the Interior will have direct responsibility for security, the Presidency will be in charge of coordinating the different related areas, such as housing, poverty and other critical issues.
“We want to articulate policies that not only combat crime, but also address the structural causes that affect security, such as inequality and poverty,” Sánchez explained.
The future secretary of the presidency also praised the appointment of Carlos Negro as Minister of the Interior, pointing out his extensive experience and career as a homicide prosecutor, which according to him, will provide an effective perspective in the management of public security. “Carlos Negro will be a great contribution to facing the challenges in this area,” he concluded.
