Less than two months before the AIFA was inaugurated, Grupo Expansión toured the facilities and verified the installation of biometric equipment, the only one of its kind in Mexico.
This biometric access system is called E-Gates. In Saint Lucia, 90 equipment from Portugal will be installed.
How do biometric equipment work?
Upon arrival at AIFA, passengers must go to the modules of the airline with which they will travel, where, in addition to checking their luggage, they will have to register and have a photograph taken that will serve for facial recognition at the automatic doors.
There will also be 20 self-service kiosks for those not checking bags. These people will be able to register using their passport or identification; They must also enter the flight number and airline and must be placed in front of a camera for a photograph.
Pablo Villagrán Toledo, responsible for the installation of this equipment in the AIFA, by the Apollocom company, assured that the self-service equipment will be easy and fast to use for all users.
“A person is going to take two minutes to register, the person is going to arrive, they are going to make their check inyour ticket number will appear, the airline, they take your picture and here (at the E-Gates) it will take a minute to go through, a database will be created, you will be able to enter, without the need to print a ticket,” he said.
