The Minister of Transportation and Public Works, José Luis Falero, highlighted the funds allocated in this period to carry out road works in Rocha, which involve, among other projects, the restoration of Route 15 as one of the most important in Uruguay. In addition, during his visit to the department, he signed a social agreement in La Paloma for four million pesos, with an organization dedicated to the rescue of marine species.
The improvement plan for Route 15 from the town of Velázquez to the city of Rocha consists of the widening of the road, the improvement in safety, the layout and the reduction of curves, “it is a phenomenal work,” said Falero.
In addition, he informed that the works on route 9, in the section towards Chuy, are in the final stage, and that in the next few days the works on the access to the Barra del Chuy spa will be completed.
“If one looks at the statistical data from the ministry, it is the largest investment in the history of the department, in the road network, in transformation and road safety that Rocha will have in this period of government,” he said.
Falero also signed an agreement to reform the premises where the Karumbé project will operate, in the La Paloma spa, which is dedicated to rescuing marine species and developing workshops. For the completion of the works, the Ministry of Transport and Public Works (MTOP) will contribute four million pesos.
He added that “the ministry’s social agreements policy provides economic support and technical advice to institutions throughout Uruguay for the repair and expansion of their facilities.”
