This Thursday it was reported another homicide in Rivera. Is about a 30-year-old man who was found on a public road shot in the headreported Telemundo and confirmed The Observer with the head of the department. The Investigations Directorate investigates the case.
After a call to 911 at 06:00, police officers went to the Misiones neighborhood, where the victim was located at the intersection of Abayudá and Tabaré streets. Scientific Police already worked in the area.

On the other hand, on Wednesday and after the two homicides in July and viral videos of drug gangs, the police carried out 14 raids. Fifteen people were arrested, of whom six were left at the disposal of the Prosecutor’s Office, reported the headquarters.
The procedures were carried out in the Bella Vista, Lagunón and Rivera Chico neighborhoods, with the support of the Republican Guard, the Departmental Anti-Drug Brigade and the Highway Police.

The July murders and the viral videos
The first homicide in July in the department occurred on the 16th. At dawn, a 39-year-old man answered the door of his home and was shot several times. The next day, in the Bella Vista neighborhood —where raids were carried out— a shootout ended with one man dead.
For their part, the videos of the criminal gangs went viral after two or three days.
In one of them, shared by Telemundo, several members of a band with the face covered and with various weapons, some of them long. According to this medium, these people are presumably allied to Luam Barcellosa Brazilian drug trafficker imprisoned in that country, and addressed their message to the gang of Jesus of Melloknown as “The lice”held in Porto Alegre.
“You were shooting at innocents, at children (…) We did not shoot anyone. Now we are going to show you how it is. Let’s catch who to catch. To those who are involved, not to the innocent as you do. Think before going to family houses. In every action you have, you will have a reaction“, is heard in one of the videos.

The Observer consulted the police, judges and prosecutors who work on the border to stop the clashes between drug traffickers, which this year have already claimed ten lives – eight in the first quarter of the year and two last weekend. Everyone agrees: what happens in Rivera is cyclical, gangs pass, factions pass and others arise.
Between 2017 and 2019, the market was disputed by El Gui and El Piojo, who, from Brazilian prisons, gave orders to their soldiers outside. In turn, they minimized the market that belonged to Cachorinho. In this context, Anderson Lacerda Pereira —alias El Gordo— emerges, who the investigators suspected —unsuccessfully in proving it— that he was an ally of Cachorinho, also linked to Bala Na Cara.
