Rio Oil & Gas has a hybrid edition, with more than 350 exhibiting companies

The 20th Rio Oil & Gas event, the largest event in the sector in Latin America, begins this morning on the Olympic Boulevard in Rio de Janeiro, the port region of the capital of Rio de Janeiro. It will be the first hybrid edition (in person and online), which has confirmed more than 350 national and foreign exhibiting companies. They will be showing the market the potential of their business.

The opening conference will have the virtual participation of the president of Petrobras, Caio Mário Paes de Andrade. Also today (26), at 1 pm, the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) will hold, as part of Rio Oil & Gas, the 10th Workshop on Operational Safety and the Environment (X Soma), open to visitors, exhibitors and congressmen.

Petrobras is the main sponsor of the event and will be present in 17 panels of the congress, in addition to presenting around 100 technical papers authored by professionals from the company.

Expectation

The expectation of the Brazilian Institute of Oil and Gas (IBP), organizer of the event, is to receive about 40 thousand participants, who will circulate through 51 thousand square meters (m²) of six warehouses on Olympic Boulevard. In this edition, Angola, Germany, Argentina, Austria, Iran, Italy, United Kingdom, France and Norway have already confirmed their presence and will have pavilions at the fair, which will also feature the participation of large companies from countries participating for the first time, such as Iran and Angola.

The meeting will bring together the main executives and specialists of the sector in Brazil and in the world. Recognized as the largest platform for business and knowledge generation in the oil and gas industry in the region, Rio Oil & Gas has more than 600 technical papers submitted. They will compete for honorable mentions and the Plinio Cantanhede award, given to the best work presented. Will also be published in the library online of the IBP, which has received more than 150 thousand visits since the 2020 edition.

During the meeting, topics such as Upstream, Midstream & Downstream, Natural Gas & Energy, Industry of the Future, ESG (environmental, social and corporate governance), Energy Transition and Digital Transformation will be discussed. The Upstream concentrates oil and gas exploration and production activities, while the Midstream and Downstream involve refining, transport and distribution and marketing to the end consumer.

The president of the IBP, Roberto Ardenghy, says that the oil industry “has a mission to guarantee the world’s energy supply and finance the journey towards a low carbon economy. In the current climate emergency scenario, the sector joins more efforts to provide the investments and technologies necessary for the energy transition.

According to data from the IBP, the segment accounts for about 15% of Brazil’s industrial Gross Domestic Product (GDP), considered the 9th largest oil producer in the world. For the exploration and production activity, the IBP estimates investments of US$ 183 billion and tax collection of US$ 622 billion from 2022 to 2031, with an average generation of 445 thousand jobs per year in the period.

The Rio de Janeiro Micro and Small Business Support Service (Sebrae Rio) will have a space at Rio Oil & Gas called the Sebrae Offshore Polo, with 20 service points, where companies will be able to present goods, services and equipment to the main players of the sector. The National Service for Commercial Learning (Senac RJ) will have a service desk aimed at the service and commerce sectors.

Sebrae will also promote Demoday, where entrepreneurs will present technological solutions or products, in pitch (brief presentation of three to five minutes), to investors and large companies. Then, in the Investment Round, startups (emerging companies) will have the opportunity to talk to investors, individually, with a view to raising funds or financing for their development.

From the 27th to the 29th of this month, in collaboration with the National Organization of the Oil Industry (ONIP), and with support from the Federation of Industries of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Firjan) and the National Service for Industrial Learning (Senai), business roundtables will be held with the participation of 30 large anchor companies, 186 suppliers, involving 745 meetings. The expectation is to generate around R$ 280 million in business over the next 12 months.

The Firjan stand, in turn, will receive international delegations, to which research and projects developed for the oil and gas market by the federation units will be shown. They are the Senai Institutes of Technology (IST) in Industrial Automation, Welding, Chemistry and Environment; Senai Innovation Institutes (ISI) in Green Chemistry, in Virtual Production Systems, in Inspection and Integrity; and the Sesi Innovation Center in Occupational Health (SIS SO), responsible for research on occupational health and safety.
