MADRID, Spain.- The winners of the Diversity Immigrant Visa Program for the United States for 2024, popularly known as “the hype”, will be announced this Saturday.
Those who applied between October 5 and November 8, 2022 to the visa lottery, from 12 noon (US Eastern Time) on May 6, will be able to check if they are among the beneficiaries in the place website of the Office of Consular Affairs of the Department of State, consulting its data through the search engine Incoming Status Check, the only way to check if a person has been selected. The results will be available until September 30, 2024.
Winners are randomly chosen by computer from qualified entries.
To check if a person or a member of their family was selected in the visa lottery, the following is required: Confirmation number or code issued when enrolling in the program; Surnames as they appear on the electronic registration form; Year of birth with all four digits; Authentication code indicated by the digital portal.
The visa issuance system has well-defined parameters, including that a country cannot receive more than 7% of the visas issued annually.
With this raffle, as every year, up to 55,000 foreigners and their families from eligible countries, including Cuba, will have the opportunity to legally emigrate to the United States with a green card in 2024.
Requirements to participate in the lottery include being born in or being the spouse of someone born in one of the qualifying countries; and have completed high school or demonstrate two years of work experience during the last five years in an occupation that requires at least two years of training.
