Registry shows massive entry of immigrants on the border of the north of the country in the midst of a state of exception

In the midst of the state of exception decreed by the Government of President Piñera due to the migration crisis, the municipality of Colchane shared a video showing the massive entry of immigrants into the border area, despite the fact that the Law of Migrations.

In the video, hundreds of people are seen entering the country in view of police officers and soldiers who were guarding the border. The new Migration Law empowers officials of the armed forces to return people who try to enter irregularly, however, this measure is not seen in the published registry.

The mayor of Colchane, Javier García Choque, told Ex-Ante that “unfortunately the images speak for themselves. Today, Wednesday the 16th, during the afternoon, we saw how hundreds of migrants manage to cross the border into our country without any greater control, despite the implementation of the new migration law and also the militarization resulting from the state of emergency.”
