Prosecutor refuses to reveal progress on Iranian flight

The board of directors of the Senate held a meeting with authorities from the Attorney General’s Office, DINAC, Immigration and Customs, to learn about the progress of the investigation of the Iranian-Venezuelan plane case that arrived in our country in mid-May.

Senator Jorge Querey, of the Guasu Front, stated that the prosecutors’ responses did not satisfy the legislators. He maintained that very strange things happened in the administrative part, but the heads of Immigration, Customs and Dinac reaffirm that with regard to the administrative part, everything was in order.

“The irregularity committed by a crew by not sending documents shows us the vulnerability of our airports regarding the entry of any type of person. The question is how do you solve that kind of thing? she questioned.

He stressed that in the field of the Public Ministry there are many loose things and regretted that they only give general information. “There is no qualification of the punishable act. They’re investigating a plane reported by the media. They are not investigating smuggling, human trafficking,” he pointed out.

He finally said that Sandra Quiñónez, state attorney general, all she did was transfer the questions to the prosecutors involved in the case, Osmar Legal and Manuel Doldán. “This shows us the very great institutional vulnerability of the three public institutions already mentioned. There are things that cannot be explained. What we cannot do is be in a situation where no one understands what is happening,” she concluded.

LEGAL

Osmar Legal, prosecutor of the case, expressed that the Public Ministry has to be secretive regarding the progress that exists in the case. “The last thing we can say is that a collaboration was requested from the country of Aruba regarding the arrival of the plane and all the documentation on that crew. I think it was a fruitful meeting. But there are issues that cannot be said due to the regulations on the non-publication of certain aspects of the case. We took several statements,” he commented.

He reported that they have already carried out several actions around the case, such as raids in Minga Guasu and Ciudad del Este, both cities in Alto Paraná. “We continue to investigate. In Argentina it is in the same stage, they did not charge anyone either, some are even being released, ”he said.
