The Supreme Prosecutor Pablo Sánchez clarified that the information revealed indicating that the Prosecutor of the Nation, Patricia Benavides, would have separated him from the White Collar task force is inaccurate.
Sánchez indicated in a written statement that he was the one who asked Benavides to leave the group because he had already finished his role of investigating the magistrates accused of being part of the aforementioned criminal organization.
“I left the coordination – it was at my request – because my office already concluded the investigations into the case in December 2021, the same ones that I delivered through reports in January of this year to the National Prosecutor’s Office,” Sánchez said.
In addition, he said that the investigations of the White Collars case continue their normal course. “About these reports, I had no information regarding their review and/or status after they were sent at the beginning of the year,” and added that the Nation’s prosecutor has ordered their review.
Sánchez was in charge of investigating prosecutors and supreme judges because of his investiture. After finishing the investigations, it was not up to him to continue leading that coordination.
“Therefore, it must be absolutely clear that Dr. Patricia Benavides did not order my removal from coordination as has been wrongly stated,” said the prosecutor.
