The PNP Anti-Terrorism Directorate reported that he raided premises of New Peru and of the Peasant Confederation of Peru this Saturday together with representatives of the Public ministry; however, from the Prosecutor’s Office they mentioned that they were unaware of the intervention of the Police.
Through their Twitter account, they indicated that, after becoming aware, they had recently arranged for the presence of prosecutors to “guarantee legality and human rights.”
“The Public Ministry reports that, upon learning that the Dircote – PNP has been carrying out proceedings in the city of Lima, it ordered the immediate presence of specialized prosecutors with the aim of guaranteeing legality and human rights.”, they wrote on their Twitter account.
Hours earlier, the PNP specified that the raid on the premises of Nuevo Perú and the Peasant Confederation of Peru was carried out with the presence of the entity within the framework of the state of emergency.
“The Prosecutor’s Office intervened in the premises of Nuevo Perú and the Peasant Confederation of Peru, where machetes, slingshots, nails, balaclavas and other objects were seized that are presumed to be used in the upcoming protests in the city of Lima,” they said from the PNP.
According to information from the PNP, various materials were found in the property, such as ski masks, machetes, knives, stones, a couple of slingshots, tacks, and banners. Likewise, the arrest of 11 people was ordered among all those intervened.
