Born in 1983, Coss was one of the best pitchers of his generation. He is remembered for having integrated the Cuba team that won the Camagüey Youth Pan American in 2001, which also included Kendrys Morales, Yuli Gurriel, Alexei Bell, Juan Carlos Linares, Deinys Suárez, Ernesto Molinet, among other talented players.

Ifreidi Coss was also one of the banners of the resurgence of the Sancti Spíritus teams in the early 2000s. His best year was his first (2002), in which he posted a record of 10 wins and three losses, with an ERA of 1.94. , collaborating with the runner-up in the 41 National Series, ultimately won by the cast of Holguín.

That same season, he joined the Cuba team in the Intercontinental Cup in Havana and a year later he was in the national team that triumphed in the World Cup, also held in the Cuban capital, and in the team that won the Americas Pre-Olympic. celebrated in Panama.

However, injuries to his throwing arm took a toll on his sports career, forcing him to retire after the 2010-2011 season.

In nine seasons with Sancti Spíritus, Ifreidi Coss won 53 games and lost 40, with seven shutouts and 21 saves.

With his departure from Cuba, Coss joins a long trail of former baseball players who have left the country during the current exodus to the United States, such as Norge Luis Vera, José Ramón Alfonso, Carlos Yanes, Yoelvis Fiss and Ciro Silvino Licea.
