Leidimar del Carmen Castillo Rangel, 18, was detained by Polilander officials in Ocumare del Tuy, Miranda state, after simulating sexual abuse against her.
The authorities reported that the woman went to the police headquarters in the populous Mirandina area to file a complaint for alleged sexual abuse by a co-worker.
Once at the site, she claimed that she was sexually attacked and, later, provided the characteristics of the alleged rapist, who was detained by officials. When questioned, the citizen – whose name was not provided to the press – stated: “There are several security cameras in the premises and they can be reviewed. “I assure you that I am innocent.”
The officials proceeded to watch the videos and found that Leidimar del Carmen Castillo Rangel had provided false information and was detained.
The case is being handled by the Ninth Prosecutor’s Office of the Public Ministry.
