The meeting, which will take place at the Palacio de las Convenciones, will also provide an opportunity to celebrate 18 years of cooperation and solidarity in the region.
This summit is carried out within the framework of the commemoration of the creation of the organization, promoted at the time by the presidents of Cuba, Fidel Castro, and Venezuela; Hugo Chávez, as an alternative to the FTAA.
In December 2005, the US proposal was definitively rejected in Mar del Plata, Argentina.
