He will not occupy the Senate seat, a position for which he was elected in the October 2024 elections. President Luis Lacalle, when he hands over the presidential sash on March 1 to the next president Yamandú Orsi, will join the Center for Development Studies ( CED) Uruguay, whose president is currently the economist Hernán Bonilla.
The CED is a non-profit organization, created about eight years ago, that focuses on addressing political and economic problems. On its website, the organization states that its work in Uruguay is to “contribute to informed debate and the adoption of better public policies.”
In the following paragraph it indicates: “We believe that Uruguay can become the first developed country in Latin America. For this reason, we promote a modern, competitive and fair country; a benchmark in the region and the world for its democratic values and open society. “We believe in freedom and that it is possible to improve the lives of Uruguayans with dedication, commitment and effort.”
