In the framework of his first official trip to Argentina, the President of the Republic, Gabriel Boric, was consulted about the statements of the Arauco Malleco Coordinator (CAM) who ruled out dialogue with the Government, alluding to the fact that “their ultimate goal is the annihilation of of our people.”
The president anticipated that he must take charge of this issue and called for not ignoring the existing conflict between the State and the Mapuche people.
“It is an issue in which we have to take charge, of a conflict between the Chilean State and the Mapuche nation people, and we are not going to ignore that,” he said.
“We have decided on a path, which is the path of dialogue, and that dialogue is going to bother many, it will bother those who believe that things can be achieved through violence or confrontation,” he emphasized.
On the other hand, President Boric stated that this is not just a public order conflict, but rather a historical and political conflict.
“Those who believe that the conflict that exists in our country between the Chilean State and the Mapuche people is only a conflict of public order. No, it is not only a conflict of public order, it is a historical and political conflict,” he concluded.
