Caixa Econômica Federal announced today (4) measures to support the municipalities of Angra dos Reis, Belford Roxo, Mangaratiba, Mesquita, Paraty and Nova Iguaçu, in the state of Rio de Janeiro, which have been hit by heavy rains in recent days. Caixa informed that it will release the FGTS withdrawal due to calamity in the regions affected by the floods. The amounts will be made available for withdrawal after municipal decrees declaring the state of calamity and recognition by the Ministry of Regional Development, through ministerial decree.

The bank will also assist local authorities in order to expedite the delimitation of areas affected by the calamity. After this definition, workers who had their homes affected will be able to withdraw the FGTS in a digital way, without the need to go to a branch, through the FGTS application, in the digital withdrawal option. The request will be made through the FGTS application, option Meus Saques, on the cell phone, without having to go to an agency.

When registering the request, it is possible to identify a Caixa account, or another financial institution, to receive the amounts, at no cost. The maximum withdrawal amount is BRL 6,220.

According to the bank, the Caixa branch truck is on its way to Angra dos Reis, with arrival scheduled for Wednesday (6). The mobile service unit will work from 8 am to 4 pm, at an address to be announced, providing essential services to the population.

The truck offers the same services as an agency, such as: assistance to beneficiaries of Auxílio Brasil, from the federal government; assistance to beneficiaries of the Salary Allowance; payment of the FGTS; granting of credit; assistance in the use of bank applications, such as Caixa Tem and the FGTS app, unlocking cards and account passwords, among others. Cash handling will be available through an ATM installed in the unit.

Caixa will allow a pause of up to 90 days in housing financing contracts in the affected regions, upon request at the bank’s branches, the incorporation of installments in the debt balance of defaulting customers in the affected regions, upon request at the bank’s branches and will also support customers to activate housing insurance and procedures for immediate payment of indemnities.

The bank also informed that it will make available a technical team, with architects and engineers, for assistance actions in support of the municipalities, which include the operationalization of transfers of resources. The institution said that it sent teams of specialists in the areas of housing, government and FGTS to the municipalities to assist the population and provide technical support to the municipalities, assisting in urgent measures.

“The municipalities will have the technical support of Caixa for surveying damages and estimating costs for the recovery of works in progress or buildings affected, such as bridges, access roads, water supply, health centers and schools, among others of great impact. for the population,” the bank said.

Caixa will also pause funding for hospitals in affected regions upon request.
