The obverse of the coin depicts the FAC’s first training aircraft, Caudron G3. These aircraft arrived in February 1921 in the town of Flandes (Tolima), the cradle of the first Colombian aviation school. This face also incorporates the image of the cucarda, military aeronautical emblem of universal use that is used in the different air forces as a badge to indicate the nationality of the aircraft.

For its part, the reverse of the coin shows the shield of the FAC, whose image incorporates the gules eagle, emblem of aviation, and includes the legend in Latin ‘Sic Itur Ad Astra’ which means: ‘That’s how you go to the heights’.
