“The protection of families is our priority”, under this slogan, through Twitter, President Gabriel Boric confirmed the work that is being carried out in coordination with local and national authorities, in the face of forest fires that affect the regions del Maule, Ñuble, Biobío and La Araucanía.
“At the moment the Disaster Risk Management Committee (COGRID) is being developed. After this, information will be delivered on the state of the fires and the measures that we will continue to take as a Government,” detailed the official account of the President, Boric , who is on vacation in the south of the country.
“As President, I will continue to monitor,” he added, reiterating the call to follow the indications and support the work of Conaf, Senapred, Firefighters and Carabineros. “We will have all the necessary resources to fight the flames and protect the public.”
According to Conaf, in the Ñuble Region, fires are registered in Quillón, with 1,586 hectares affected; Caserio Linares Chillán Viejo, totals 52 hectares; Quilmo, with 700 hectares; Quirihue, with 1000 hectares. “All the air and land resources deployed in the region. Work is being done on the count of homes and affected infrastructure,” the state entity announced in its latest report.
In the Araucanía Region, according to Senapred, there is a relevant fire in combat and it is Manzanal 2, in the Purén commune. It has affected an area of 38.8 hectares. And the SAE system was activated in the sector. 1 command post, 8 brigades, 7 technicians and 1 Conaf coordination plane were deployed; 2 helicopters managed by Senapres; in addition to 1 bulldozer, 2 motor graders and 1 road tank truck. Losses are also recorded in Cholchol, Lumaco and Galvarino.
In the Biobío Region, until the closing of this note, Senapred does not register “relevant” forest fires. Similarly, it maintains a Preventive Early Warning in the region.
