The Government of Portugal expressed its condemnation of the attack against the Venezuelan consulate in Lisbon committed this Saturday, January 11. On its social networks, the Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs declared “The Portuguese Government strongly condemns the attack against the Venezuelan Consulate in Lisbon. “He ordered an immediate reinforcement of security and the corresponding police investigation.”
The Portuguese Foreign Ministry described the act as “intolerable”, and stressed that “the inviolability of diplomatic missions must be respected in all cases”, in accordance with international regulations.
On Saturday night, Foreign Minister Yván Gil denounced that the headquarters was attacked with fire bombs. In this way “the services provided to our compatriots are attacked.” Gil also pointed out that these irrational aggressions by deranged groups “will not be able to reverse the advances of the Bolivarian Revolution.”
The chancellor highlighted the quick intervention of the Portuguese authorities that prevented further damage. “We hope that the investigations launched will allow us to find those responsible and determine responsibilities.”
This complaint from the Government occurs one day after the swearing-in of Nicolás Maduro as President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela for the period 2025-2031. In the face of these attacks, the national government, in perfect civic-military-police union, continues to fight and resist, and takes concrete actions to counteract any attack from foreign empires, in order to assert its sovereignty.
