Officials of the Scientific Police determined that the human remains found this Monday in the rambla of the Sur neighborhood, in Montevideo, correspond to a man with a criminal recordas reported by Underlined and confirmed The Observer with sources from the Ministry of the Interior.

The remains were found one more time at the height of the Rambla República Argentina and Calle Paraguay, as had happened last week, when the torso of a deceased person was found. This time, part of an arm and a leg were found floating in the waters of the Río de la Plata interspersed with clothingbelonging to an adult with a record of the year 2003.

“It would presumably be from the same body found the other day“, the spokesman of the National Navy, Alejandro Chucarro, told El Observador. From the Ministry of the Interior they clarified that they still could not connect both findings.

As explained by the prosecutor in the case, Adriana Edelman, to The Observer The last friday, The prosecution was trying to identify the man’s identity through his DNA, since there were no fingerprints. However, for the method to be effective, there had to be samples of the man in the database, which finally happened because he had a criminal record.

Last Thursday, the Prefecture of Trouville was contacted by a person who reported the presence of human remains in the waters of the Río de la Plata, at the height of the Rambla and Paraguay. Prefecture staff verified the information and removed the torso of an adult white-skinned man. Later, after the forensic report, it was learned that the man was around 40 years old and that he had been murdered. The torso had stab wounds and blows..
