PN will follow up on recidivist accounts in misleading and manipulated crime news

Santo Domingo, RD.- The National Police reported that it will follow up on accounts that are repeat offenders on misleading and manipulated information on crime.

The entity activated an extensive investigation to detect the spread of false information in digital media.

The authorities warned that they will not allow panic to be generated in the population, with this type of diffusion. Especially after an alert that behind the actions could be links to drug trafficking and organized crime.

Accounts that are repeat offenders in the dissemination of the so-called “Fakes News” through the networks are being followed up. Mainly due to matching behavior in content, comments and users.

The Legal Consultancy of the Police and the Department of Investigation of Crimes and High Technology Crimes (DICAT) are part of the investigation arranged.
