In the last few hours, the trade union center analyzed the problems of public security that Uruguay is experiencing.
In this regard, the Representative Table expressed its “deep concern about the violence installed in recent times.”
Facts that horrify society
He highlighted the fact that “so far in the month of May there has been an escalation in homicides, reaching 18 murders in events that horrify society.”
The PIT-CNT indicates that “the climate of insecurity is on the rise and is not consistent with the statistics handled by the government on the matter.”
“We are facing a very serious loss of control. The result of a referendum is no longer an excuse and they have the ‘magic’ law fully and in force”, ironically the union central.
Likewise, the statement states that the government came to power “with special emphasis on the fact that they were prepared and had the solutions to face the problem of public security, but it is public and notorious that these recipes are not giving the desired results and the insecurity, far from being mitigated, deepens”.
Public politics
“More global and transversal consensus public policies are necessary to face this problem. The solution is not the heritage of a political currency, on the contrary, it requires broad agreements and political commitment”, states the PIT-CNT.
The workers’ union urges the Executive Branch to follow such paths and “not lock itself in supposed formulas of success and revealed truths that, to the test, are not like that.”
