The debris removed from the streets and landslide sites in Petrópolis, in the state of Rio, will be taken to a site located on the banks of the BR-040, which connects Rio de Janeiro to Brasília. The information was released by the Public Ministry (MPRJ).
He added that the city lacks licensed areas for the destination of this type of waste. But as the situation is an emergency, an area that causes the least possible impact was sought. The previously thought site had springs of water resources, so it had to be discarded.
The MPRJ set up a task force to act in the city affected by heavy rains in recent days. In addition to assisting in the work of releasing bodies and searching for missing persons, the Public Ministry is also issuing requests for inspections to the Civil Defense, among other activities.
