The Peruvian police arrested on Wednesday in several cities of the country 53 people who were part of an international child pornography organization run from the United States and Europe, the prosecution said.

“It is a group made up of 255 people from 17 countries,” the prosecution said in a statement.

“Of this number, 77 would be Peruvians; 71 have already been identified and 53 captured,” prosecutor Jorge Chávez explained, according to statements reported by the local newspaper La República.

The detainees belong to an organization called Deep Porn, which exchanged images of a sexual nature of children between 10 and 16 years old.

According to the prosecution, the group existed since 2019 and used social networks such as WhatsApp to spread images of photos and videos.

Regarding the arrest of the network, La República said that it was “a mega operation executed simultaneously in 15 regions of the country and 14 districts of Metropolitan Lima” and that “53 targets of the investigation that began in September 2019 were captured. “.

The administrators would be located in Europe, the United States and Ecuador.

“The images are sold through the networks. We are in contact with foreign governments,” added prosecutor Chavez, who directed the operations in Lima..

According to the prosecutor, the organization would have shared more than 10,000 images of child pornography.

In Peru, child pornography disseminated through information and communication technologies (ICT) is punishable by up to 15 years in prison.
