PC, PI and other left-wing movements reject the declaration of the Foreign Ministry in which they delegitimize the triumph of Daniel Ortega in Nicaragua

Through a statement, a series of collectives and left-wing political parties rejected the statement of the Chilean Foreign Ministry, where they criticize the last elections in Nicaragua, which allowed a new reelection of President Daniel Ortega.

The text, signed by the Communist Party, Equality Party, Movimiento del Socialismo Allendista, Izquierda Libertaria, Ukamau Chile and Movimiento de Pobladores en Lucha MPL, assures that Chile joins the United States government in an interference that goes “against the will of the peoples ”.

“The Nicaraguan people went to the polls en masse to democratically elect their authorities and they have done so in peace, in accordance with their institutions and current laws. The elections were held with the presence of observers and international companions and had a massive turnout and turnout at the polls of more than 68% of the Nicaraguan electorate, in a voluntary voting system from 16 years of age, in the midst of a conflict of interest where the North American government is a counterpart ”, they maintain.

“It will be possible to criticize the way the process was carried out and inquire about respect for human rights, but keeping in mind that for this there are mechanisms of international order and bearing in mind that the popular will cannot be ignored. Furthermore, it is the peoples themselves who must resolve their conflicts, without foreign interference, “they add.

That is when they criticize the statement from the Foreign Ministry, assuring that Minister Andrés Allamand and President Sebastián Piñera seek to join a “policy of aggression and unilateral sanctions led by the United States and its European allies against the people and government of Nicaragua.” .

“The president of Chile is responsible for the systematic violation of human rights and the permanence of political prisoners. But it is the Chilean people who are facing and will continue to face this situation ”, they affirm.

“The majority of the Nicaraguan people have expressed themselves at the polls, and have given legitimacy to the government of President Daniel Ortega. Our solidarity is with the Nicaraguan people and with their sovereign decision in the construction of their future ”, they conclude.
