During his visit to Aceguá, the President of the Republic, Luis Lacalle Pouwas consulted about the statements of the mayor of Canelones, the front player Yamandú Orsi, who rebuked the president for his lack of knowledge of the given public education system: “You never set foot in a public center.”
However, the president decided not to respond.
In this regard, Lacalle Pou said: “Pass, as in Happy Sunday”in reference to the entertainment program in which the participants could not answer.
At the insistence of the journalists, he continued without responding. “I have no time”said.
He only argued that “it is a lie” that his government favors the richest. He concluded: “Look at the investment and spending rates in Mides. It is not true (that the money goes only to the gold mesh), it is part of the story ”.
Orsi’s remarks came after the president spoke publicly about the IAVA conflict.
Lacalle Pou had questioned the graffiti that some members of the IAVA student union did to the building of that high school and supported the way of acting of the authorities of the National Administration of Public Education (ANEP).
“We all know that schools, high schools, UTUs belong to everyone, they all bank with their taxes. Does anyone in your house do what they do in that room? Is anyone willing to be defaced and dirty at home? You have to take care of what belongs to everyone as if it were your own. We don’t have to be proud of what is done with that building”, he indicated at a press conference at the anniversary ceremony for the Landing of the Thirty-Three Orientals.
