President Alberto Fernández will announce this friday a new model of “free choice” of specialists Which will allow “faster” shifts in the Comprehensive Medical Care Program (PAMI), official sources informed Télam.
Fernández will make the announcement at 11:30 am, together with the head of social work for retirees and pensioners, Luana Volnovich, at the Casa Rosada Bicentennial Museum.
The sources pointed out to Télam that this system “does not replace” the GP but rather “expands the care capacity” in specialists and diagnostic imaging centers” of the PAMI.
In harmony, they noted that “for the first time in history” of the social work the affiliates “They will be able to choose the doctor or medical specialist with whom to attend”.
They assured that in this way “it will generate faster access to shifts and better quality of care” for users.
According to the above, now, as of March 1, the social work will put an end to a “fixed allocation system”, by which the elderly could not select the specialists.
In this way, it was indicated that “the waiting time will be shortened” to obtain shifts and it will also be possible to choose the diagnostic imaging center that the affiliated person prefers.
The procedure will begin when the member asks his or her primary care physician to issue the electronic medical order for the specialty or diagnostic imaging study that he or she needs.
Then, they will consult the new medical card to find the specialists and diagnostic imaging centers available in their area and, once the specialist or diagnostic imaging center has been chosen, the member must contact to request an appointment.
