The Minister for Defense, Vladimir Padrino López, urged this Sunday to highlight with a “superior effort” the work of the Liberator Simón Bolívar, whom he considered one of the greatest men of all humanity.
“We must make a superior effort to highlight the work of Bolívar, because it was something that went over Venezuela. It is not about Venezuela, it is about the formation of a subcontinent », he expressed from the Federal Legislative Palace, in Caracas, where a master class on Bolívar was given by Gustavo Pereira.
About to be fulfilled 239 years of birth of the Liberator, Padrino López emphasized that Bolívar should be among the most important generals for humanity, such as Alexander the Great and Napoleon Bonaparte.
In fact, during his speech, the head of the defense portfolio highlighted some thoughts of the French cleric Abate de Pradt, when he compared Bolívar with the Mexican emperor Agustín de Iturbide, with Bonaparte and with the US president, George Washington.
“The Liberator, with a war saber in one hand and writing laws and codes with the other, without the support of any of the European powers that did support the United States, managed to reach much more territory and greater miscegenation than that reached by the peoples of the North,” he said.
Without detracting from the legacy of Washington and other strategists such as Benjamin Franklin or Theodore Roosevelt, Padrino López affirmed that he will never compare himself with Bolívar’s work on the continent.
“That is why I place this man, with great humility, among the greatest of humanity,” he asserted.
Padrino López also commemorated the 199th anniversary of the Naval Battle of the Lake and Bolivarian Navy Day.
