The Governor of Panama, Carla García, confirmed that the Pacificando Mi Barrio program, which at the beginning was only intended to be maintained in San Miguelito, has been successfully extended to other sectors of the country, at the request of the communities themselves.
In two weeks, more than 162 firearms, 120 suppliers, more than 16 thousand ammunition and 14 explosives of different calibers have been collected; translating this into 41 thousand dollars in exchangeable bonds.
García confirmed that the program has been a great success, “we were going to wait until next year to continue in the different townships, but due to the reception it has had, we have made the decision together with the Minister of Security to maintain it.”
He also confirmed that on Monday the 27th they will be at the Santa Rita stadium, in the town of Santa Ana, and on December 28 and 29, they will stay at the Rockero Alcázar gym, in the town of Curundú.
Said program, explained the Governor, is a job that has been done in coordination with local governments. And the entire process takes place confidentially.
