The Superior Administrative Court (TSA) ordered the reinstatement of Margarita Cristo Cristo as judge of the Labor Court, five years after being dismissed from office by decision of the Council of the Judiciary.
In March 2017, Cristo Cristo was dismissed after a disciplinary trial was held against her and she was found guilty of committing serious misconduct by giving instructions to a lawyer on how to carry out a defamation and libel process, while she served as interim judge of the Third Criminal Chamber of the Court of First Instance of La Vega.
After hearing a contentious administrative appeal filed by the dismissed judge, the Second Chamber of the TSA determined that during the disciplinary process, due process was violated.
Consequently, the court ordered the reinstatement of Cristo Cristo to his job as well as that he be paid the wages not received from the date of his dismissal.
