A total of 790 police and military officials have been deployed since Wednesday morning in Guárico to counteract the criminal action of the Tren del Llano criminal organization, dedicated to charging agricultural producers for vaccine in dollars, according to military sources.
According to military sources, the deployment has been called Operation Thunder, according to the nomenclature assigned to it by the Strategic Operational Command of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (Ceofanb).
Operation Thunder began with a series of raids at various points in the plains entity simultaneously. These include San Rafael de Orituco, José Tadeo Monagas municipality (Altagracia de Orituco) where the Tren del Llano criminal organization, founded by Gilberto Malony, who was killed in San Juan de Unare in November of last year, has its headquarters.
Other municipalities assigned for the initial deployment are Juan Germán Roscio (San Juan de los Morros), Julián Mellado (El Sombrero), Francisco de Miranda (Calabozo, San José de Tiznados), Leonardo Infante (Valle de la Pascua) and Chaguaramas.
Operation Thunder is carried out by 560 officers from the Bolivarian National Police and 230 from the National Anti-Extortion and Kidnapping Command (Conas) of the Bolivarian National Guard, the source explained.
