Office of the Ombudsman visits the Chriquí Penitentiary Center

In order to listen to those deprived of liberty about the conditions of their human rights, the Ombudsman Eduardo Leblanc González, toured the different pavilions of the Chiriquí penitentiary this Friday.

During the visit, human rights officers from the Chiriquí region and from the National Directorate of Prisoners interviewed the prisoners to learn about their needs and inspect the facilities to detect possible violations of their human rights.

Leblanc indicated that although many are serving their sentences because they made a mistake in life or awaiting trial, they have rights as human beings, to health, education, dignified treatment, and food, among others.

He added that everything collected in the penitentiary center will generate a report that will be presented soon.
