New Kennedy Hospital tower will be ready by the end of 2023

The Mayor’s Office of Bogotá, accompanied by the Ministry of Health, toured the works that are being carried out at the Kennedy Hospital, where a new tower is being built that will be designated as a new emergency unit for this hospital.

During the tour, the Mayor’s Office explained that this It is a work that has been waiting for citizens since 2010 and that was taken up by this administration at the beginning of 2020.

“This hospital is going to be an icon in the southwest of our city. The community has been waiting for this hospital for many years. We are going to set up 215 new beds and it will have surgery, physical medicine and rehabilitation services, and imaging services. of the highest technology, among other specialized services,” said the District Secretary of Health, Alejandro Gómez.

The official added that the work currently has an advance of 73.3% and that the contract signed for the construction of this tower is for a value of $121,814 million pesos. Likewise, he indicated that the work has generated 221 jobsthat 102 new beds will be enabledand that this construction will benefit more than 400,000 people directly. This tower will be delivered and will go into operation in December 2023.

It is important to mention that this construction was abandoned for a long period, so much so that even in 2016 mitigation and restoration works were carried out on the soil structure because they have been presented leaks affecting other areas of the hospital.

Among these effects were the leaks and floods that throughout this year have had to suffer the patients, relatives and the medical staff of the health center, who have been requesting greater attention and investment by hospital management and the District Administration.

Subsequently, the project was resumed in 2018 when the contract was signed with Chiron, the current signatureto carry out studies and designs that ended in 2019 with the obtaining the construction license.
