Netflix announced that it will charge an additional S/ 7.9 in Peru for each user who does not live in the same house as the account holder, as part of its efforts to prevent streaming platform passwords from being shared.
This is a test that the company will start in the countries of Peru, Chile and Costa Rica. According to Chegyi Long, director of product innovation at Netflixpasswords will be allowed to be shared “in a simple and safe way, as long as you pay a little more”.
According to Variety, this measure seeks to exert pressure so that Netflix’s terms and conditions are respected, which establish that the account “cannot be shared with individuals beyond your household [del titular]”.

The new options to add extra accounts will be enabled in the following weeks in the three countries where the test will take place.

With the new option to “add an extra member”, Netflix users with Standard and Premium plans will be able to add accounts for up to two people with whom they do not live. Each one will have their own profile, personalized recommendations, login and password.
The cost to add an extra member will be S/ 7.9 in Peru2,380 pesos in Chile, and US$ 2.99 in Costa Rica.
