In a statement, the National Election Jury (JNE) announced that its Declara Internas system, specialized in the online registration of the candidates who will participate in the internal elections in May, worked correctly, without incidents of any kind having been detected during the time the platform was enabled for the political organizations that will take part in the Regional elections and Municipal of 2022.
The engineer Huber Barreto Loyolain charge of the information technology projects of the autonomous body and responsible for the implementation of the software, stated in an interview given to the institutional channel of the National Jury of Elections that the platform worked optimally during the time it was enabled so that the parties and movements participating in the voting process could present their candidates through due process.
Thus, according to what was expressed by the institution, from midnight on April 1 to the 11 of the same month, the principle of suitability was met with respect to the criteria established for these political groups, that with this step they confirmed their desire for citizen participation and commitment to democracy.

The official also noted that training was previously conducted for representatives of political organizations, in order to instruct in the proper use of the digital tool and prevent any problem or inconvenience when proceeding with the registration of the candidates. This training was directed both in Lima and in the interior of the country and was divided into 27 educational workshops, 20 virtual and seven face-to-face.
Total, The autonomous body reported a total of 1,465 participants in the specialized software workshops, of which 1,303 did so virtually and 162 in person. Likewise, these instructional modules included the invitation to the legal representatives of the interested political organizations, although also, in special cases, the invitation was extended to the alternate legal representative or to the president of the central electoral body.
However, the training process did not end with the previously mentioned sessions, but, in addition, there were additional consultancies throughout that period. by specialized personnel, who were in charge of guiding and responding to queries regarding the operation of the Declara Internas system, which, according to Barreto Loyola, has been designed to be easy to use, with only four steps to follow within the platform.

Numbers of registered candidates
As reported by the National Election Jury (JNE)at the end of the period established for registration, the system compiled a total of 13,388 lists of candidates, within which 135,276 applicants are registered. Specifically, 339 correspond to the regional election, 1,857 to the provincial municipal election and 11,192 to municipal and district jurisdictions. The consolidated list reports that 148 political organizations throughout the country gave their consent to hold internal elections, of which 15 are political parties and 133 regional movements.
“Of the 13,388 lists submitted by the political groups in the JNE Declara Internas system, almost 50% were presented on the last day (around 6,500)”, declared the official in relation to the final balance of the registration process.
