Natalia Piergentili, president of the Party for Democracy, pointed out that the mechanism for electing the drafting body of a possible new Constitution has not been settled because “we are listening to both conglomerates.”
This is because “Chile Vamos is convinced that it is an unelected body in its entirety and the idea is to advance on other issues such as the date because they do not seek to slow down the process,” he said.
The ruling party has always been convinced that it is a 100% elected body, as President Gabriel Boric points out. He affirms that “on the part of the right, they are not closed to other options, so there would not be a setback, but rather a debate.”
The parliamentarians of the different parties are still in a deliberative process in which they discuss whether the experts have the right to vote at the congressional table. There are voices who think positively about this option but it is not yet a sure thing.
