Two injured police officers is the preliminary result of a brawl that took place this Tuesday morning inside the facilities of the Portuguesa state police checkpoint, located in Guanare, according to sources from the security agency.
The injured policemen, both with the hierarchy of Chief Supervisor, are identified as José Luis Escalona Canelón (38), injured in the head, and Rafael Mena (46), who was hit in the back with a projectile.
The group of rioting prisoners stripped one of the two wounded policemen of his regulation weapon.
A commission went to the site and began conversations with those deprived of liberty to hear their requests. Among the members of the negotiating commission are Gustavo Torrealba, 4th Prosecutor for Human Rights, and the delegated defender of Portuguesa, Raquel Vieira.
Parallel to the start of the talks, the inmates released a police officer they were holding.
